Oe Honke | Onneyu Onsen | Eastern Hokkaido

Find Your Way to Feel at Ease

Discover Japanese-style rooms in Hokkaido at Oe Honke, a traditional hot-spring hotel in Onneyu Onsen.

Choose from tatami rooms with futon bedding, comfortable twin rooms, and spacious Japanese-Western suites. Find the room that suits your way of traveling.

At Oe Honke, a hot-spring hotel with roots dating back to 1899, a comfortable stay does not have to mean the same thing for everyone.

You might want to sleep on a Japanese futon, relax in a room with both tatami and beds, or simply enjoy a quiet night after exploring eastern Hokkaido.

This guide will help you understand the differences before booking.

01 / Room Styles

Three Ways to Stay

Japanese-Style Rooms

Traditional tatami flooring and futon bedding. A memorable way to experience a Japanese hot-spring hotel.

Western-Style Twin Rooms

A room with two standard beds. A convenient choice for travelers who prefer not to sleep on the floor.

Japanese-Western Rooms

The comfort of Western beds together with a Japanese tatami space. Especially useful for mixed bedding preferences.

Room types, prices, occupancy and availability depend on the travel date and accommodation plan. Please check the room description when booking.

02 / Japanese-Style Rooms

Discover the Comfort of Tatami

A Japanese-style room offers something different from a conventional hotel room. Tatami flooring, a low table and futon bedding create a relaxed setting for your time indoors.

Take off your shoes before stepping onto the tatami floor, settle in after a bath, and enjoy an evening in your own way.

Sharing a Japanese Room with Family

Tatami rooms can also be enjoyable for families. During the day, the room is a place to sit together, talk and relax. At night, futon bedding is prepared on the tatami floor.

03 / Japanese Bedding

How Does Futon Bedding Work?

In a traditional Japanese room, guests sleep on futon bedding laid directly on the tatami floor. During the day, the bedding is put away so that the room can be used as a sitting and relaxing space.

When Will Our Staff Prepare the Futons?

Our usual arrangement is to prepare the futons while guests are having dinner.

However, if you prefer staff to prepare the bedding while you are in your room, please let us know at check-in.

You can also contact us before your arrival to request that the futons be prepared in advance.

For advance arrangements, please include your reservation name and check-in date in your message.

Email Oe Honke about bedding arrangements

Good to know: In Japanese-Western rooms, there are no more than two beds in a single guest room. When three or more guests stay together, additional sleeping places are provided using Japanese futon bedding, according to the reservation.

04 / Rooms with Beds

Prefer a Bed? You Have Options.

Sleeping on a futon can be an interesting part of a Japanese holiday. But it is not the right choice for everyone.

If you prefer a standard bed, Oe Honke also offers Western-style and Japanese-Western rooms.

Important: A Japanese-Western room does not mean that every guest will have a bed. A maximum of two beds is provided per room. Additional guests use futon bedding.

05 / Suites & Special Rooms

A Little More Space for Your Stay

For guests looking for a more spacious accommodation experience, Oe Honke offers a selection of special rooms in Hienkaku.

Hienkaku Japanese-Western Suite

This suite combines a ten-tatami Japanese room with a separate bedroom.

It provides space to sit together, enjoy the view and relax after visiting the hotel's natural hot springs.

The room also includes access to Lounge Sisley, as described in the hotel's room information.

Suites with Private Hinoki Wood Baths

Some Hienkaku suites feature a private bath made with Japanese hinoki wood. The natural appearance of the wood adds another distinctive element to the room.

Two styles are available: a Japanese-Western suite with a bedroom, and a suite with two connecting Japanese rooms.

Please note: The private hinoki baths in these guest rooms do not use natural hot-spring water.

Oe Honke's 100% free-flowing natural hot springs can be enjoyed in the hotel's communal bathing facilities. There are no guest rooms with private open-air hot-spring baths.

Guests staying in the hinoki-bath suites may use Premium Lounge Seseragi, according to the room-category benefits.

Special rooms are limited in number. Please check their availability and included benefits when booking.

06 / Flexible Room Choice

Looking for a More Flexible Option?

Some accommodation plans offer an Omakase Japanese-Style Room, meaning the hotel assigns the Japanese-style room rather than allowing guests to choose a particular room.

These plans may sometimes be priced more affordably than plans offering a specific room category.

However, guests cannot select a particular room, floor or view under this arrangement. Please check the booking details carefully before choosing this option.
